    BERLIN FESTTAGE

    29 March - 3 April 2018 We are back from the 58th and final outing of the Götz Friedrich Ring at the Deutsche Oper and cannot wait to return to vibrant Berlin. The Staatsoper is at last returning to Unter den Linden and we could not resist Daniel Barenboim’s Berlin Festtage next Easter (29 March – 3 April) – Parsifal and a new Falstaff at the Staatsoper, Barenboim and Argerich at the Philharmonie, Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane at the Deutsche Oper and Offenbach’s Barbe-Bleu at the Komische Oper in a new production by Stefan Herheim.

    WAGNER in BUDAPEST

    Acclaimed semi-staged productions with Adam Fischer and Bayreuth soloists. This year there are performances of Der fliegende Holländer, Tannhäuser and Tristan und Isolde with Anja Kampe, Sophie Koch, Stephen Gould and Robert Dean Smith amongst others.

    JANACEK in BRNO and opera in VIENNA
    27 November – 5 December 2018

    Janáček’s operas Jenůfa and Šárka with Smetana’s Festival opera Libuše a staged performance of The Diary of One who Disappeared, choral works and a concert in the Villa Tugendhat are among the highlights of our first visit to the festival. We have grandstand seats at a reactment of the Battle of Austerlitz and we finish with a few days in Vienna.

Robert Avery, who accompanies all these tours, founded Habsburg Heritage Cultural Tours in 1989. He read Modern History at Cambridge and then devoted twenty years to the Anglo-Austrian Society, pioneering cultural tours and helping to run the Youth and Music Festival in Vienna. He was editorial consultant to the Eyewitness Travel Guide to Vienna and was awarded the Silver Haydn Medal of the City of Eisenstadt. When not leading tours he can usually be found at the opera.
