    THE RING IN DRESDEN

    28 January – 5 February 2018
The intelligent Ring production by Willy Decker was the focus of our successful visit when Fabio Luisi was in his honeymoon period with the Sächsische Staatskapelle and the Semperoper Dresden. We returned for the next cycle when Mr Luisi made an abrupt departure. Now it returns for two cycles with their chief conductor, the superb Wagnerian Christian Thielemann. All tickets were snapped up in 24 hours but we have succeeded in acquiring a small number for the second cycle.

Petra Lang sings Brünnhilde, Albert Dohmen - Alberich, Christa Mayer - Fricka, Erda and Waltraute, Kurt Streit is Loge, Gerhard Siegel - Mime and Andreas Schager - Siegfried.

We will have time to explore the treasures of Dresden and spend a whole day in Leipzig. Our full programme has yet to be decided but we would ask you to reserve a place on what is certain to be a popular tour.

    BERLIN FESTTAGE

    29 March - 3 April 2018

Daniel Barenboin started the Easter Festtage with the Berlin Staatsoper in 2006. The Staatsoper on Unter den Linden reopens this autumn after a prolonged renovation and the traditional performance of Parsifal is joined by a new production of Falstaff.

Please click here for full details.

If you decide you must join me on both the Dresden and Berlin trips – the two best Wagner conductors of our day with probably the two best Wagner orchestras (whose members form most of the Bayreuth orchestra each summer) - we are offering a special “German Package” with a £300 discount per person for both tours booked at the same time.

The 2017 brochure is available as a pdf file, please click here to download the brochure.
